The document is the 2018 edition of the "National Seismic Motion Prediction Map," which shows the probability of experiencing a major earthquake with a seismic intensity of 6 weak or higher within the next 30 years, as assessed by the government's Earthquake Research Committee. At the end of 2017, the probability of a massive earthquake occurring in the Kuril Trench off the Pacific coast was reassessed, resulting in a significant increase in the likelihood of a major earthquake in the southeastern part of Hokkaido.
